About the artist

Sheri Ross, MD began her painting career as a youth in Michigan.  She continued her training as an undergraduate at Stanford University, studying drawing, painting and printmaking.  Sheri graduated from Stanford with distinction receiving a BA in Human Biology.  She put her art career on hold to study medicine at Michigan State University and completed a residency in Pediatrics at Northwestern University- Children's Memorial Hospital.

Sheri co-founded a pediatric practice on the North Shore (Lake Shore Pediatrics) which has thrived for the past 24 years with offices in Lake Forest, Libertyville, and Barrington Illinois.  After a long hiatus from the art world, during which time she also raised two daughters, Sheri returned to the canvas.

She studied oil and acrylic painting with David Gista, initially at the North Shore Art League in Winnetka IL followed by The Art Center in Highland Park IL, where she served on the Board of Directors and chaired the Outreach Committee. Sheri currently paints at The Art School in Glencoe IL.

"My work is based on photos that I have taken over the years...photos of friends, family and especially strangers who struck me as interesting and beautiful as they pursued their everyday lives.  I have tried to capture a moment in time- of activity, of pleasure, of movement- expressing the joy in all of us with vibrant colors and form, blending the abstract with the actual, to create a visual picture of the human spirit."
